“Cannot open directory. Did not receive a reply.” Launch Error for Thunar on Debian Xfce

While opening folders or mounting drives on Debian Xfce using Thunar, a launch error occurs, saying:

Can not open directory
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include:
The remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

This problem can be solved by editing /usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount file as root.

  • Open this file using mousepad and/or other text editor.

mousepad /usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount

  • This file may look like this:

[Mount]
Type=network
Exec=/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-network
AutoMount=true

  • Replace¬† AutoMount=true by AutoMount=false. As you can see, changing from true to false would do the job.
  • Now Save the file.

You’re done. Your problem should be solved by now.
