How to Enable Root User Account in Ubuntu

Root user account isn’t enabled by default in Ubuntu. Users are encouraged to use sudo instead. You can enable root user though by using command-line. Open terminal and execute the following to enable root user:

sudo passwd root

You’ll be asked for root password. Provide a password. And you’re done. You can now switch to root user any time you want by typing the following in terminal:

su –

This way you will have the root access.
