Install Simplescreenrecorder in Ubuntu

SimpleScreenRecorder is by far the best desktop recorder program for Linux platform. Linux desktops has a couple of screencast programs, but SimpleScreenRecorder stands out from the crowd.
Contrary to what the name suggests, SimpleScreenRecorder is a powerful tool to record your desktop. It comes with a simple GUI to adjust everything from within it. The best part is, it works perfectly unlike others. I found other similar programs lack one or two of the features available in SimpleScreenRecorder or, they would mess something up leaving your unwitting.
You can simply install the simplescreenrecorder for the 64-bit version, or simplescreenrecorder-lib:i386 for the 32-bit version. But I’d suggest adding SimpleScreenRecorder’s PPA. This way you’ll be able to use the latest build.

  • Open terminal and execute the following commands line by line; otherwise they wouldn’t work.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:maarten-baert/simplescreenrecorder
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder

For 32-bit Ubuntu, install the following instead after executing the first two commands:
sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder-lib:i386
This will install SimpleScreenRecorder on your Ubuntu. You can follow this same procedure for any Ubuntu flavors or its derivatives. For other Linux based OSs, follow the instructions from SimpleScreenRecorder’s site.
